frequently asked questions

Throughout our lives, we will search for the answers to many different questions. Although we don't have the answer to all of your questions, Broad Creek Christian Church can help you find the answers to some of life's most important ones. We look forward to developing a relationship with you where you would feel comfortable growing with us in our knowledge of, and relationship with, Jesus Christ.

This page is meant to help answer some of your potential questions concerning BCCC as a church. We would love for you to understand who we are, what we believe, why we exist, and where we are going as a congregation. If you have any questions concerning what you read, PLEASE, take a moment to give us a call, we would love to sit down and talk with you personally.

What kind of church are you?
BCCC is a non-denominational Christian church. The term non-denominational refers to the fact that we are not formally associated with any established denomination. We see ourselves simply as "Christians" under the Lordship of Jesus Christ submitting to his authoritative Word, the Bible. It is our intent to simply be a part of the original church, which Jesus initiated with His death, burial, and resurrection, and was established on the Day of Pentecost as described in the New Testament in Acts 2.

What do you believe?
About GOD   There is one God who is the Creator, Sustainer and Ruler of the Universe. Although one in essence, He exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is both holy and personal. He is manifest in creation, revealed in the Bible, and known through Jesus Christ.

About JESUS CHRIST   Jesus is God the Son, equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. He took the form of human flesh in which He was both fully God and fully man. He was born of the Virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit and lived a sinless life, confirming all He taught with miracles, signs and wonders. He offered His life as a payment for the sins of all people; was crucified, died, buried, and resurrected on the third day. He returned to the Father's right hand in Heaven where He intercedes for all of His followers. He will come again personally, bodily and visibly to judge the living and the dead and to establish His kingdom.

About the HOLY SPIRIT   The Holy Spirit is God, coequal with the Father and Son. He acts to draw people to salvation in Jesus Christ by convincing them of sin, righteousness and judgment. He indwells all believers at the moment of salvation, and makes available to each Christian; power, understanding, and discernment for victorious living, as well as gifts and anointing for service.

About SALVATION   Salvation is a gift from God offered freely to all mankind. It is a gift given by grace, through faith in the person of Jesus Christ, to those who receive Him by: believing, repenting, confessing, and being baptized (immersion). Salvation is manifested in good works, it brings new spiritual life, it allows for the forgiveness of sin and reconciliation with God, and promises eternal life for those who receive it.

About the BIBLE   The Bible is God's Word. It was written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and has been supernaturally preserved over the centuries. It stands alone among all the literature in the world in revealing God, the way to fellowship with Him, the lifestyle that pleases Him, and truth.

Why do you exist?
The concise answer is... We simply exist to glorify God. That's it. As Christians, and as Christ's Church, we are called to be living sacrifices for God and our very lives are how we are to worship Him. We are called to glorify God with everything we think, say, and do.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

— Matthew 28:18-20(NIV)

In saying that, BCCC has recorded a phrase that we use as our Mission Statement. This statement, "Making Disciples", helps us in understand our purpose and sheds light on why we exist. We believe that we if we can (and help others) take three simple steps, then we can be successful in accomplishing our mission. ĘThose three steps are as follows:

Connecting People   The Great Commission, found in Matthew 28:18-20, tells us that we are to make disciples. Essentially we are to connect people to what they need in their lives to help them become more like Christ. Some of those important connections are as follows:

Connecting People To God   The single most important relationship that an individual can have is a relationship with his/her Creator. One of the ways that we worship God is by being connected to Him and helping others get connected with Him as well.

Connecting People To His People   The Bible makes it abundantly clear that we (God's Church) are to live interdependently with one another. 64 times in the New Testament we are encouraged to live connected with other believers with the exhortation "one another." Another way we can worship God is by getting connected with His people and living in fellowship with them.

Connecting People To His Service   As followers of Christ we are to follow His example. Jesus himself said in Mark 10, "...whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man (Jesus) did not come to be served, but to serve..." We worship God by serving Him and others like Jesus did.

Where are you going?
Although, we know that God has blessed Broad Creek in many ways, we also know that God still has much more for us to do. Although we will never know exactly what tomorrow holds, we do have a vision of what kind of church that God wants us to be.

Our goal is not to be a group of believers who just come to church. Our goal is to be a group of believers that are the Church in a world that God loved so much that He was willing to sacrifice His Son to rescue it. We have been called to be His hands and feet that are making a difference and to be His heart that is showing His love to this World.
